JLo takes on the Ice Bucket Challenge.
The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge shows no signs of slowing down. Over the weekend, dozens of celebrities—including J-Lo, Selena Gomez, Nina Dobrev and James Van Der Beek —poured buckets of ice water over their heads to raise awareness for Lou Gehrig's disease. Lopez accepted the nomination from speedo-toting soccer star Christiano Ronaldo, and passed it on to Iggy Azalea and Pitbull. Donations have exploded for the ALS association, which said Sunday it's received $13.3 million in donations since July 29, compared with $1.7 million during the same time period last year.
So... How'd this whole Challenge get it's start? It's pretty hard to pinpoint, honestly. I heard it began with a firefighter charity campaign, then it became a police fundraiser, and so on and so on. Either way, ALS is definitely benefiting the most from it since Hollywood celebs have gotten involved with taking the challenge. Here's how the Wall Street Journal claims this charity challenge got it's start.
I don't care how it got it's start... I'm just happy people are doing something for charity! :)
