Joseph Meili, 22, of Russellville, Missouri received 5 years of supervised probation after pleading guilty on Friday of molesting an 11-year-old girl, who later tested positive for chlamydia, a sexually transmitted disease. Charges of child kidnapping and statutory rape were dismissed.
The girl met Meili through the MeetMe dating app on her mother's phone and gave him her address.Meili picked up the girl from her house on July 2017 and took her to an apartment in which the girl claimed that she fell asleep and woke up feeling as though something sexual had happened, according to a newspaper report.
When Meili was arrested, he claimed that the girls page on the app showed that she was 18 years old. Part of the plea deal will require Meili to register as a sex offender.
