Hip-hop artist and Texas native DJK shows off his smooth side with “No Pretend”. The single is his latest release following up from his EP “Stay Out the Way” which dropped in 2021. The video for “No Pretend” gives summer party vibes as beautiful women and warm weather fill up the screen. Shot in Miami, Florida directed by Jeff Adair beautiful palm trees and blue waters accompanied by an all white yacht make for a captivating scene.
DJK isn’t a new comer in hip-hop, he’s been recording and releasing music since 2013. Growing up he has always loved music, using it as a creative outlet and form of expression. DJK found musical inspiration from artist like Prince, 50 Cent and T.I , giving him influence to be innovative with sound. A talented song writer and composer he writes all of his own lyrics even mixing his own music to make sure it’s polished. With a combination of bold and raw melodies, DJK’s music isn’t just a rap song, it’s an experience.
DJK’s visual for “No Pretend” has already surpassed 200k views, with several other videos passing that number. DJK’s fan-base has also expanded consistently since his first EP in 2013, with 65K followers on Instagram alone. The support he’s received has been remarkable, rewarding him a repeat performance at SXSW in 2017, 2018 and recently this year of 2022. With his mother (Moma Scott) as his manager and apart of his own motivation DJK strives to be more than a music artist. His desire to bridge the gap between the younger and older generation speaks volumes about his personal character outside of music.
DJK’s “No Pretend” prepares listeners for what he has in store. Currently gearing up for the release of his new EP titled “I Arranged, Composed and Performed by DJK” he is ready to show his fans another side of his creativity. No release date has been stated as of yet, but it is already a highly anticipated release.
