Holiday songs have long become an important part of traditional celebrations, yet Mother's Day lacks a set of special songs to sing every year. With "We Love Our Mama," CB+J hopes to contribute something new to that conversation by creating a record that celebrates mothers in a way listeners of every generation can share.
Instead of writing a sentimental ballad, the sibling trio, comprised of Bella Rose Petry, Joseph "JJ" Petry Jr., and Clark Petry, chose an upbeat rock arrangement that invitesparticipation. The result is a song designed to be experienced together, whether families are listening at home, attending a live performance, or celebrating Mother's Day with loved ones.
For CB+J, the goal was to create something that mothers would enjoy hearing just as much as their children would enjoy singing. "We hope moms feel love, happiness, and joy," the band shared. "Every mom deserves to feel like she's number one."
A Chorus Meant to Be Shared
One of the defining elements of "We Love Our Mama" is its memorable chorus. Rather than serving only as a hook, the repeated lyric encourages audience participation from the moment it begins. "When we play it, we want people singing and screaming the chorus with us," the group explained. "Seeing families smile, dance, and join in together creates an incredible experience."
To emphasize the difference between listening and performing, CB+J has even developed separate radio and live versions. While each delivers the same message, the live arrangement leaves additional room for crowd participation, turning the audience into part of the performance. The band believes those shared moments are what people remember long after a concert ends.
Beyond the music itself, the siblings hope “We Love Our Mama” encourages simple conversations between family members and gives people another opportunity to express appreciation for the mothers in their lives.
Finding Common Ground
That sense of community goes beyond their plan for the official music video of the song. CB+J are working on a project that pays tribute to the spirit of "We Are the World." It includes photos of moms of all generations, countries, cultures, and religions in order to emphasize how universal motherhood really is.
"The world can seem divided, but everyone has a mama," they commented. "We hope people take a couple of minutes to remember something we all share."
In the future, CB+J intends to produce even more original songs and try their hand at making a whole album. There are plans to have plenty of themes in upcoming works, but "We Love Our Mama" is important because of the foundation it laid for the music they want to produce.
If the trio accomplishes its goal, "We Love Our Mama" will become part of family celebrations each Mother's Day, giving people another reason to gather, sing together, and recognize the women who have supported them throughout their lives.
