The group behind a victims' fund founded in the wake of the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting announced this week that the families of each of the 58 people killed in the attack will receive $275,000 apiece from the organization. The Las Vegas Victims' Fund, a nonprofit that started as a GoFundMe campaign, will hand out $31.4 million in total. Another 10 victims who were paralyzed or suffered brain damage in the shooting will also receive the maximum $275,000 payout. Funds will be distributed to 532 claimants in all, with amounts ranging from $17,500 to $200,000 based on the severity of victims' injuries. "In no way can it replace someone's life," says group founder Al Etcheber, whose sister-in-law died in the attack. "Still, it is a real nice way to help families who lost someone they loved."
