According to the San Bernardino Sun, a piece of San Bernardino history is about to be auctioned off this Friday. The carousel inside The Carousel Mall is headed to auction to make way for a new beginning for the city.
The famed merry-go-round from which the Carousel Mall draws its name will be sold to the highest bidder Friday, May 11, as knickknacks and souvenirs from the shuttered shopping center are removed in anticipation of the area’s renaissance.
The 36-foot carousel was added to the Central City Mall in 1991, inspiring the name change.
The carousel is expected to fetch $50,000 to $70,000.
The auction is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, May 11, inside the mall, 295 Carousel Mall. It is open to the public and free to attend.
WOW! Do you remember when this was one of the only malls in the IE? I have so many memories of riding that carousel with my grandma back in the day.
