Legendary designer Kate Spade has reportedly committed suicide at the age of 55. Page Six reports that Spade was found in her Upper East Side apartment by her housekeeper on Tuesday around 10:20 a.m. She reportedly killed herself by hanging and left a suicide note. Spade got her start in fashion when she worked in the accessories department of the now-defunct Mademoiselle Magazine. She was the wife of comedian David Spade's brother, Andy, whom she married in 1994. They launched her eponymous fashion brand together in 1993 and had a child in 2005. Spade sold the last of her Kate Spade shares in 2006 and launched a new brand in 2016 called Frances Valentine.
This is absolutely heartbreaking.
