Lady Gaga makes her debut as a struggling artist named Abby in the first trailer for Bradley Cooper’s remake of A Star Is Born. In the teaser, Gaga’s Abby meets Cooper’s Jackson Maine--a popular musician who is facing a career setback due to his alcoholism. “I don’t sing my own songs…I just don’t feel comfortable,” Abby tells Jackson at one point. “Almost every single person has told me they like the way I sounded but they didn’t like the way I look.” The rest of the clip shows the duo falling in love while Abby’s star rises. The trailer also features Gaga-as-Abby singing a new song called “The Shallow”--which she penned with frequent collaborator Mark Ronson. A Star Is Born hits theaters October 5.
