MoviePass Goes Down Again, Won't Offer Tix to Some Major Releases

MoviePass' problems aren't going away anytime soon, and now it's raising prices for subscribers. Today (Tuesday), the company announced that within the next 30 days it will raise its monthly subscription price from $9.95 to $14.95 per month. And that new price won't allow you to see just any movie; films released more than 1,000 screens will be "limited in their availability during the first two weeks, unless made available on a promotional basis." After the ticket app went down Thursday--reportedly because the company temporarily ran out of money--CEO Mitch Lowe announced Monday that the app would not be offering any tickets for the upcoming films The Meg and Christopher Robin. Meanwhile, the app experienced a second outage on Monday, prompting Twitter to fear that the end had arrived. "Oh no. They are done. It’s been inevitable for a while," one user tweeted, while another hilariously wrote, "MoviePass goes down more often than DJ Khaled doesn’t." [TechCrunch]
