Idris Elba has been named People's Sexiest Man Alive for 2018. The 46-year-old British actor received the title during an appearance on Monday's episode of The Tonight Show. "I’m really, really happy with that, man," he declared. "Thank you so much People Magazine for making me sexiest man in the world, I’m loving that." He continued, "It’s an honor. My mom is going to be very, very proud, so thank you to you guys." In an interview with People, the 6'3" star admits that he went through an awkward phase as a kid. "I was very tall and skinny. And my name was Idrissa Akuna Elba, okay? I got picked on a little bit," he admits. "But as soon as I could grow a mustache, I was the coolest kid on the block. Grew a mustache, had some muscles, bonkers." Last year's Sexiest Man Alive was Blake Shelton.
