Kevin Hart has stepped down as the host of next year's Oscars after facing backlash for his tweets mocking the LGBTQ community. "I have made the choice to step down from hosting this year's Oscar's," he said in a statement on Thursday night. "This is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists. I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past." Hart's decision comes shortly after he insisted that he wouldn't apologize for his tweets from several years ago, in which he refers to gay men as "f*gs." One of his unearthed tweets that's drawn the most attention reads, "If my son comes home & tries to play with my daughter's doll house, I’m going to break it over his head and say in my voice, 'Stop that's gay.'"
