As Donald Glover ended his final Childish Gambino tour in Los Angeles, he took time out during the second of two sold-out shows to pay tribute to his late dad. "I lost my father a couple weeks ago," he told the audience. "I wanted to play him some of the new songs, but he didn’t want to hear them because he was like, ‘I know they’ll be great.’ I’m not saying that to talk about music, I say that to talk about trust." Later, Childish Gambino did play a bit of a new song he is working on, however, and continued to reflect on his tough 2018. "I lost a lot of good people," he said. "I know it’s been a tough year for everybody, that’s what’s crazy. I wish I could change everything for everybody."
