The first trailer for the forthcoming documentary Leaving Neverland paints an unflattering picture of Michael Jackson amid renewed accusations of sexual abuse. The clip starts with photos of and recollections from James Safechuck and Wade Robson, both of whom hung out with Jackson when they were younger, as well as each man's mom. However, doing "kid things" like eating candy and watching moves with MJ soon turned sinister, the movie claims. "He told me if they ever found out what we were doing, he and I would go to jail for the rest of our lives," Robson says at one point, while Safechuck adds, "Secrets will eat you up. You feel so alone. "Leaving Neverland airs on HBO on March 6 and 7.
Obviously, the Jackson estate denies the claims made in what they call "the kind of tabloid character assassination Michael Jackson endured in life, and now in death. The film takes uncorroborated allegations that supposedly happened 20 years ago and treats them as fact. These claims were the basis of lawsuits filed by these two admitted liars which were ultimately dismissed by a judge."
