We here at 99.1 KGGI wanted to make sure we acknowledged that we have lost two of our very own in the Assault Amphibious Vehicle (AVV) accident off the coast of California, last Thursday, July 30th. Two of the eight Marines and Sailor killed were from the Inland Empire. According to a post from Riverside Mayor Rusty Bailey in “What’s going on in Orangecrest?” on Facebook, he shared, “It is with deep sadness that I share that one of Riverside’s own, Cpl. Cesar A. Villanueva (21 years of age), was one of the eight Marines and Sailor killed on Thursday, July 30th in the Assault Amphibious Vehicle (AAV) accident off the coast of California.According to Cpl. Villanueva’s mother, Maria, he served in the Marine Corp for approximately four years and was recently married. Cesar attended La Sierra High School. I was also sad to learn that one of our neighbors, Pfc. Bryan J. Baltierra (19 years of age), of Corona, California was killed in this accident.”
Our hearts are with the families of these men and the families of all who lost their lives. Prayers Up.
