The Tokyo Olympics saw the debut of Women's Street Skateboarding and it did not disappoint! My eyes were glued to the the screen watching these ladies launch into amazing tricks, but what really had me captivated were the ages of some of the most impressive boarders! Particularly, Rayssa Leal from Brazil. At only 13 years old, she won a silver, losing the top spot to another 13 year old from Japan. Both girls were incredible, but it was Rayssa's bubbly personality that had my whole family cheering.
Rayssa is also known as the "Little Skateboard Fairy" (Fadinha do Skate in Portuguese), a nickname she received after a video of her doing an amazing skateboarding trick in a fairy costume at age seven went viral. Tony Hawk reposted the video below...
