Earlier this week in New Mexico, police noticed a barefoot man walking along a road with his feet full of cactus. Assuming he was homeless, they offered him a ride to a shelter, which he accepted. En route, however, the cops heard a call on their radio which reported an escaped inmate who met the description of their passenger. Indeed, the man in the back of their cruiser, Raymond Lopez, had just escaped from a nearby prison, where he was doing time on drug and auto theft charges. So instead of taking Lopez to the homeless shelter, police returned him to his home behind bars.
