Gas-Station Cashier Befriends Man Who Robbed Her

In 2013, Blake Walker walked into a Shell station in Port St. John, Florida, on cashier Tristen Gibson’s ninth day of work. Walker proceeded to rob Gibson at gunpoint—even though that gun was a broken airsoft rifle. Walker was arrested and served three years in prison, where he kicked a nasty drug habit. While he was incarcerated, Gibson sobered up too—and tracked down Walker after his release. They’ve since become good friends, albeit at a distance, as Walker lives in Mississippi. “All of this triggered something in my own life—my own demons with alcohol,” Gibson tells Florida Today. “Now I’m 617 days sober, he’s sober, and now we’re living this amazing, sober life…And I think he’s pretty cool.”
