Schools Closed After Teen's Gun Threat Days Before Columbine Anniversary

Denver-area schools were closed on Wednesday after an 18-year-old Florida woman flew to the city and bought a pump-action shotgun and ammunition after reportedly becoming "infatuated" with the 1999 mass shooting at Columbine High School. The FBI considers Sol Pais "extremely dangerous" due to the fact that she "made threats to commit an act of violence in the Denver metropolitan area." The AP reports that Columbine High and more than 20 other schools outside Denver locked their doors for nearly three hours on Tuesday before Wednesday's closures were announced. Authorities say Pais was last seen near Columbine wearing a black t-shirt, camouflage pants and black boots, and is considered too dangerous to approach. Anyone who thinks they spot her should call 303-630-6227. As the AP notes, the 20th anniversary of the Columbine shooting, in which 12 students and a teacher lost their lives, is on Saturday, April 20.
