Panic broke out in the Corona Costco on Friday night when shots rang out. Initial reports had people believing the incident was due to an active shooter and that there may have been more than one gun involved but that was NOT the case.
What we know now is that an off-duty Los Angeles Police Department Officer fatally shot one 32 year old man and wounded two others (a report from the Press Enterprise says it was the man’s parents) after he was apparently "assaulted" while holding his daughter and shopping with his family inside the store.
The family of the shooting victim is asking for more information about what actually happened and want to see surveillance video of the alleged attack. They add that the man was mentally disabled and non-verbal.
Anyone with information about the incident can contact Lt. Robert Newman by calling him at 951-817-5788 or sending him an email at Robert.Newman@CoronaCA.gov.
