Pfizer just announced Monday morning that their data shows the Pfizer and BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective for children 5 to 11 years old. Their test trial consisted of 2,268 participants between the ages of 5 to 11 years old. The participants received a lesser amount of the vaccine in each of the two-dose regimen for the "safety, tolerability and immunogenicity" of the younger children. The vaccine was found to be safe, well tolerated and showed robust neutralizing antibody response. Pfizer is expected to submit an Emergency Use Authorization request to the FDA soon.
