Meteorite Chunks Fall To The Ground After Fireball Seen In Several States

After a fireball was seen blazing across the US sky last Wednesday, NASA says bits of meteorite has been found in southern states like Mississippi.

The space chunk hurled towards Earth at around 35,000 miles per hour, disintegrating above a swampy area in Louisiana. At its peak, the fireball was ten times brighter than the moon.

While anyone who finds pieces of the meteorite in their yards gets to keep it, NASA doesn't want to see your rocks, writing "We are not meteorite people, as our main focus is protecting spacecraft and astronauts from meteoroids. So we will be unable to identify any strange rocks you may find. Please do not send us rock photos, as we will not respond."
