A New York woman is on trial for trying to kill her friend with poisoned cheesecake. In 2016, Viktoria Nasyrova attempted to knock off Olga Svyk with the tainted treat. The plan was for Nasyrova to steal her friend's identity.
A former prosecutor said, "This is a bizarre and twisted crime that could have resulted in the death of a Queens woman, whose only fault was that she shared similar features with the defendant."
The cheesecake was laced with a tranquilizer. The victim was found the next day with pills scattered around her to make it look like a suicide attempt. Nasyrova is charged with attempted murder.
One more note. When Nasyrova was arrested in 2017, investigators said she was suspected of drugging men in Brighton Beach to rob them. She was also wanted in connection to a murder in Russia in 2014.
