Perris Couple Pleads Not Guilty to Alleged Torture and Abuse Charges

The Perris, California couple who were accused of holding their 13 children captive were charged today. Charges included 12 counts of torture, 7 counts of abuse of a dependent adult, 6 counts of child abuse and 12 counts of false imprisonment. The couple could face up to 94 years to life in prison if convicted.

The father, David Allen Turpin, and mother, Louise Turpin, entered pleas of not guilty at their arraignment. A court conference was scheduled for Feb. 23 in Riverside. They are being held on $12 million bail each.
