A brush fire that is believed to have been intentionally set erupted in the San Bernardino National Forest Wednesday afternoon. Evacuations were ordered in Idyllwild and 600 homes were threatened. The 800 acre blaze dubbed the Cranston Fire burned near Highway 74 near Hemet and Mountain Center.

Highway 74 between Lake Hemet and Cranston Fire Station
Highway 243 between Mountain Center and Pine Cove
Evacuation center was set up at Banning High School at 100 W. Westward Ave. in Banning.
