French fries could quite literally be the best side dish ever.
I'm sure we can all agree on that. What we may not agree on is who has the best french fry to offer. A recent LA Times article has social media very much divided. The Times' food critic did a whole power ranking of fries (chart included) to show which fry was his favorite.
Top five lists are rarely without debate. But what REALLY has Californians in a huff, is that In-N-Out was ranked very LAST. Now I prone to agree with this assessment. I truly believe in the depths of my stomach that In-N-Out is largely overrated.
I was actually shocked by the rest of the top five list. Lucas Kwan Peterson, a food columnist for the LA Times, ranks his faves as so:
- Five Guys
- McDonalds
- Del Taco
- Steak n' Shake
- Arby's
To me, it's a pretty solid top 5. I was surprised that Steak n' Shake made it in there but I do love me some Steak n' Shake so I'm cool with it. By the way, Baker's and Farmer Boys have to an honorable IE Mention. The critic seemed to only rank national chains, so these two didn't make it on the radar unfortunately. I think they would be out some the fries on this list.
Of course there were some people that didn't agree with the list. A major one being Mayor Eric Garcetti:
Did you favorite fry make the list?
