Riverside Cheer, Band & Color Guard Teams Rally Against State Guidelines

High School sports are back, but it's not happy news for everyone. The current state guidelines do not allow cheerleaders, band nor color guard to be a part of games, calling them "spectators," even though they too are athletes and very much a part of each football game.

Thursday (March 18) evening, in what's being described as a "friendly protest" according to parent, Jlyn Corns, students and parents will be rallying at King High School at 6pm. All Riverside high schools have been invited in an effort to be heard and a hope they can make a change in what, for the seniors, will be the final year of cheering, playing their instrument and dancing during a football game. Time is of the essence.

The flyer below was created by King High School parent, Leann Cuenca, and has been distributed all over social media. A change.org petition has been set up as well.
