36-year-old Charles Metzermacher of San Bernardino was arrested on Thursday, December 9th for a recent armed bank robbery committed in Fontana on December 2nd. According to the Fontana Police Department, the FBI is investigating to see if there is a connection with a series of other robberies in the Inland Empire.
The December 2nd robbery happened at a Chase bank located in the 16100 block of Foothill Blvd in Fontana at around 12:14pm. Metzermacher who was armed with a firearm and was wearing a disguise, handed the bank teller a note demanding money and threatening violence. The suspect left the bank with a large sum of money and took off in a vehicle which was later located nearby and turned out to be stolen.
According to police, the suspect Charles Metzermacher is a career criminal, gang member and is currently on probation for grand theft auto. On December 9th, Metzermacher was located by authorities and taken into custody.
