An female student at McAuliffe Elementary School in Riverside was attacked by 32-year-old registered sex offender Logan Nighswonger inside the school's restroom. Police said that Nighswonger climbed a 6-foot fence and tried to sexually assault the girl in that restroom.
A school employee chased Nighswonger when he noticed him come out of the restroom and heard a girl crying. The suspect escaped by jumping other fences and taking off in a vehicle. The suspect was later arrested in Placentia.
Nighswonger was convicted back in 2016 for making inappropriate comments toward children and indecent exposure.
Nighswonger is being held without bail at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside.
