A new California law went into effect Monday, July 1st, that will require bars and nightclubs that hold a Type 48 license to offer drug testing kits. The new law was created to stop drink spiking, also referred to as "roofied". According to the California Department of Alcohol Beverage Control, the kits will detect substances like ketamine, flunitrazepam, and gamma hydroxybutyric acid. It will be up to the establishments if the drug testing kits will be sold or given to customers.
