Atlanta’s music scene is in a bit of a transitional period currently, as at the very top of the scene the city very much runs the industry, but on a more underground level things have certainly gotten more stale over the last several years as many Atlanta artists have become copycats with certain trends within the city and outside of it. There are so many different sounds that can be first traced to Atlanta that have been regarded as dated as of late but as the 2010’s become more of an afterthought many of the initial trap styles that first made the city’s music so popular are serving as the primary source of influence for many new artists.
One artist who is building off of the Atlanta trap sound of old while stille putting his own more modern spin on the sound with his malleable flow is Bally Ogun on his new 5-track EP Shooting Star that is a great introduction to the west-side Atlanta artist whose delivery fluctuates between slurred and intoxicated to more intense at times, making for a variety of moods across the EP.
