Moonlight won Best Picture at the 2017 Oscars on Sunday night, after it was incorrectly announced by presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway that La La Land took home the top prize. (Beatty was mistakenly given the envelope for Best Actress, and was visibly confused onstage.) The mistake was cleared up as the La La Land team were in the process of giving thanks; the AP called it possibly the most awkward moment in American history. Despite the mix-up, La La Land took home six other Oscars--including Best Actress for Emma Stone and Best Director for Damien Chazelle. The night also saw Casey Affleck named Best Actor (Manchester by the Sea), Viola Davis winning Best Supporting Actress (Fences) and Mahershala Ali being recognized as Best Supporting Actor (Moonlight). In so doing, the latter became the first Muslim actor to win an Oscar.
