A man who opened fire at the Gilroy Garlic Festival in northern California. killing three and wounding at least 15 others on Sunday, is dead, the Los Angeles Times report. Witnesses say a man dressed in a vest and camouflage fatigues opened fire randomly on the crowd as the festival was winding down. Police say the suspect, identified as 19-year-old Santino William Legan, cut through a fence to gain access to the festival while avoiding security and metal detectors. Police confronted and killed the suspect, who carried "some sort of a rifle," within a minute of him opening fire. Gilroy police chief Scott Smithee said witnesses reported two suspects, but it was unclear if the second shooter ever fired. Musician Jack Van Breen said he saw a man firing what looked like an assault rifle, and heard someone shout, “Why are you doing this?” The shooter replied, “Because I’m really angry." The AP reports that a 6-year-old boy was among the deceased.
