Kawhi Leonard continues to give back to the Inland Empire and the school district in which he graduated! As a parent of a student in the Riverside Unified School District, I received the email pictured below announcing the incredible donation Kawhi and the Clippers made to our students. In fact, my daughter gets her new backpack today!
Los Angeles Clippers and Kawhi Leonard Donate Backpacks to All 42,000+ Students Across Riverside Unified School District
The Los Angeles Clippers along with two-time National Basketball Association champion and graduate of Riverside Unified School District (RUSD), Mr. Kawhi Leonard generously donated a backpack to every student across RUSD schools. Backpacks were delivered to over 50 school sites across Riverside this week as students completed testing in preparation for Winter break.
Leonard returned home to Southern California after recently signing a 3-year contract with the Clippers, in July. Leonard graduated from Martin Luther King High School in 2009.
Board of Education President Dr. Angelov Farooq expressed “On behalf of the RUSD Board we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Clippers Foundation and our alumnus, Mr. Kawhi Leonard, for this extraordinary and generous donation to our students. Kawhi is an exemplary model on the possibilities that can be achieved through concerted determination. Our community and children are fortunate that he continues to make an impact on and off the court. We look forward to following his successful journey ahead.”
