There may not be any MLB baseball games happening, but the Angels are still looking out for the game-day workers at Angel Stadium. The team is pledging to pay a one-time cash grant to over 18-hundred workers, regardless of whether they’re employed by the Angels or a third party. They’re donating more than $1.2-million that will go to eligible workers, including ticket takers, ushers, janitors, security and concession staff.
Angels spokeswoman Marie Garvey says the team has established a sliding scale for payments based on factors including hours worked, job duties, and pay rate. She says the Angels have announced their plans now because stadium workers would have received their first paycheck Thursday if the season had started on time.
“We understand the important contribution that all ballpark workers play in creating a memorable experience at Angel Stadium,” Garvey explains.
