The recently launched streaming service HBO Max has ordered over 1,000 minutes of new Looney Tunes cartoons to carry on its network, the New York Times reports. According to show runner Peter Browngardt, the new episodes are meant to harken back to the early glory days of the cartoons. “We don’t do scripts, I hired cartoonists. So we get them together in a room and we just draw pictures and gags,” he said. However, there will be one major exception to that: Elmer Fudd and Yosemite Sam will be without guns. Animators will instead stick to cartoony violence like dynamite, anvils, booby traps. “All that was kind of grandfathered in,” Browngardt explained. [Consequence of Sound]
