Chase may no longer be on the case! As shows like Cops and Live PD have been canceled in the wake of George Floyd's death and the ensuing protests against police brutality, even the kids' cartoon Paw Patrol has come under scrutiny for its positive portrayal of Chase the police dog. Last week, Paw Patrol's Twitter account tweeted, "We will be muting our content until June 7 to give access for black voices to be heard so we can continue to listen and further our learning." In response, Twitter users clapped back, “Euthanize the police dog,” "Defund the Paw Patrol," and, "All dogs go to heaven, except the class traitors in the Paw Patrol.” AsThe New York Times notes, "The charges are mounting against fictional cops [and] even big-hearted cartoon police dogs...are on notice. The effort to publicize police brutality also means banishing the good-cop archetype."
