Juneteenth Events Happening Today All Over The IE

Today is Juneteenth. Juneteenth commemorates the day the United States' last African-American slave was emancipated in 1865 in Galveston, Texas. It takes place every June 19--and with ordinary citizens around the world marching for racial justice, it may be more important than ever.

Here in the Inland Empire there are several community celebrations taking place in honor of Juneteenth.

Today at Perris Hill Park in San Bernardino, the M.U.D.A Foundation & The Dino Can will be providing free food, fun & outreach at their "Feed The Dino" event. Eveent begins at 12pm. (Flyer linked below)

According to the Press Enterprise there will be a Juneteenth Power Parade from noon to 3pm along Route 66 between San Bernardino and Pomona. "Participants will gather at 11 a.m. at Carousel Mall in San Bernardino and caravan on Route 66 with decorated vehicles. The parade ends at Ganesha Park in Pomona."

Here is a wonderful link to all the Juneteenth celebrations taking place today and through the weekend.
