According to the Good News Network, The Dad Gang was an idea that began four years ago. A woman approached Sean Williams, a black father who was shopping at the grocery store with his kids, when she made a comment that struck a chord. She commended him for “sticking around,” and doing right by his children.
Sean and other black fathers he knew had experienced similar encounters and he wanted to do something to change that. He created THE DAD GANG: DADS ON A MISSION TO CHANGE THE WAY THE WORLD VIEWS BLACK FATHERHOOD.
“The Dad Gang” has evolved into a community of socially-conscious allies whose motto, ‘We are dad goals,’ sums up the purpose of the group’s events: to enjoy their time together, while setting “the new standard of what black fatherhood looks like worldwide.”
