Sand is now a hall of famer. Yep, the stuff on beaches and in boxes around the world was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame's Class of 2021, along with American Girl Dolls and the classic board game Risk.
American Girl Dolls were recognized for teaching history and diversity in a new and exciting way.
Risk, which debuted in the US in 1959 got its props for teaching young and old alike strategy.
Sand made the Hall of Fame for giving kids limitless chances to create, with "a global reach that most toy manufacturers would envy" according to the Strong National Museum of Play.
Toys like Cabbage Patch Kids, Battleship, and billiards were some of the nominees that just didn't make the Hall of Fame this year. [Museum of Play]
