Amazon has a new feature that could be cool, or creepy. The Alexa voice assistant will be able to recreate anyone's voice, including the voice of a deceased relative.
An example was previewed at a conference in Las Vegas on Wednesday. Alexa’s senior vice president Rohit Prasad showed a video where a child asked Alexa to read a bedtime story in dearly departed grandma's voice.
How can the device do this? All Alexa needs is a minute of someone's speech. Artificial intelligence takes over to recreate the voice as best as possible. Amazon did not announce when the feature would be available.
Some opponents feel this technology could expand problems with scams and false narratives. [Complex]
