North Carolina native Karly Pavlinac Blackburn hoped to whip up a recipe for success buy having a cake with her resume printed on it delivered to Nike's main campus in Oregon.
Her mission got a huge assist from her Instacart delivery driver, Denise Baldwin.
Saying she was "shocked" when the order came in at her local grocery store, Baldwin added "I've always wanted to deliver to Nike, but I know that there's a lot of security behind it."
Baldwin wasn't going to let Blackburn, who had been laid off from her marketing job, down: "I had told her on the phone when I was at security, 'Don't worry, I'm going to make sure that this gets to the right person for you because I know how important this is for you, and that means that it's important for me. I talked to security and they were like, 'You can just leave the cake,' and I was like, 'No, I need to make sure it gets delivered to boss Mac Myers."'
Baldwin's determination hopefully earned her five stars on Instacart, because she sent a picture of Myers holding the cake as proof of delivery.
Blackburn's story has since gone viral on LinkedIn; she's yet to hear from Nike about a job - or how the cake tasted.
