A lot happened in 11 minutes.

It's been five years but the effects of the mass shooting at Las Vegas’ Route 91 Harvest festival on Oct. 1, 2017, continue to weigh heavy on the minds of country music fans.

A new four-hour Paramount+ documentary, 11 Minutes, takes a unique approach to retell the story of the largest mass shooting in U.S. history. The story is told by interviews with survivors of the event, people who were there as musicians, fans, police, paramedics, nurses, doctors, and so on.

In an exclusive interview, Storme Warren, an award-winning radio host who served as Route 91 Harvest Festival's onstage host, notes that 11 Minutes chronicles a "painful and cathartic" set of "really hard scenes, sounds, and stories that were heard and experienced."

Jason Aldean's voice is a prominent one in the documentary. He describes how his bass player, Tully Kennedy, was mere inches away from being hit by a bullet onstage. He also recalls being hustled offstage and hiding in his tour van with his wife, Brittany, who was then seven months pregnant with the couple's first son, Memphis.

The documentary is tense, but surprisingly, 11 Minutes is not gruesome — the visuals are selected and edited very tastefully. But you're thrown into the action and the pandemonium anyway, as the circumstances, and the stories, get more emotional.

11 Minutes is now streaming on Paramount +.
