On Monday, three children and three adults were killed in a shooting at an elementary school in Nashville, Tennessee.
Police say officers engaged with and killed the shooter, identified as a female who was carrying two "assault-type rifles" and a handgun. It happened just before 10:30 a.m. local time.
All three of the students were pronounced dead after arrival at the hospital.
Officials identified the three students as Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, and William Kinney, all age 9.
The three faculty members killed were Cynthia Peak and Mike Hill, both 61 and school head Katherine Koonce, 60.
The shooter has also been identified as Audrey Hale, 28, a former student. Police said her online profile listed her as working in Commercial Illustration and Graphic Design.
Covenant School is a private Christian institution for students pre-k through 6th grade with 200 students. [Read More]
