Spring training is underway and there's been a lot of attention on Dodger superstar Shohei Ohtani!
The pitcher and designated hitter, signed a historic $700 million contract with the Dodgers in Dec., which marked the biggest payday in baseball history. With all this attention, the 29-year-old wanted to clear the air on some things so he announced that he was married.
"To all my friends and fans throughout, I have an announcement to make, he wrote on Instagram. "Not only have I began a new chapter in my career with the Dodgers but I also have began a new life with someone from my Native country of Japan who is very special to me and I wanted everyone to know I am now married. I am excited for what is to come and thank you for your support."
Shohei is set to be addressing the press on Friday, March 1. In the meantime, he urged the media to refrain from reaching out for interviews with him and his family.
Following his post on Instagram, Shohei Ohtani and topics related to his marriage became Japan’s top five trending topics on X, with his announcement stunning fans.
