Southern California residents beware, 37-year-old Jehad Serwan Mostafa is a worshiper of Osama Bin Ladin. Mostafa has been charged with multiple crimes involving connections tied to Somalia's al-Shabaab rebel group, according to a federal indictment unsealed Monday. Mostafa was indicted on similar charges in 2009.
Mostafa's new counts accuse him of having key roles in al-Shabaab activities and providing material support for numerous years as early as 2009.
The FBI has stated that his year they learned he is a leader in al-Shabaab's "explosives department."
Acording to Scott Brunner, the lead agent of the FBI office in San Diego."Today, Mostafa is believed to be the highest-ranking United States citizen fighting overseas for a terrorist organization,"
Mostafa's dangerous group claimed responsibility for two September 30th attacks on U.S. and European military targets in Somalia, including one by an estimated 25 fighters who were killed
According to FBI sources, Mostafa was was raised in San Diego, where authorities say he has relatives that currently reside there and he grew up in the Serra Mesa neighborhood. He studied college and graduated from UC San Diego then proceeded to join the dangerous organization of al-Shabaab around 2006.
